Misha’s Vineyard

Misha’s Vineyard is located on one of the most spectacular sites in New Zealand at the edge of Lake Dunstan in the Bendigo sub-region of Central Otago. The sun-drenched north-west facing terraces of the 57-hectare estate provide the optimal conditions for producing world-class Pinot Noir and a range of aromatic white varieties. Named by UK Decanter Magazine as one of the Top 20 Wine Producers in New Zealand, Misha’s Vineyard’s wines are crafted by renowned winemaker, Oliver “Olly” Masters. The ‘no compromise’ philosophy behind Misha’s Vineyard wines requires an exacting sustainable viticulture regime, hand-picking and considerate winemaking methodologies. The wines consistently receive outstanding accolades and are available in more than 20 countries around the world.

The Wooing Tree is a local landmark that sits prominently in the middle of our family vineyard.

It has long been a place for locals to woo their lovers, and if it could talk, would have many a story to tell! These days it is not quite the private spot it once was…but we still have plenty of visitors proposing marriage and even getting married under our beautiful iconic tree, amidst the vines.

Central Otago enjoys a perfect climate for producing beguiling Pinot Noir. Our single vineyard site is located in the very heart of the region, in the town of Cromwell, opposite the ‘Big Fruit Sculpture’. Come and visit! You’ll discover why we specialise in making Pinot with Passion…

Mount Michael Wines;

At the breathtakingly beautiful Lowburn, Central Otago, presents perfect growing conditions for Pinot Noir with its extremes of temperature and mineral rich soils.

Our sunny northeasterly aspect on a gentle slope running down to the lake provides all the right elements for reducing the risk of frost.

The estate is boutique by any standard, producing around 3,000 cases of wine annually. Our vines are hand-tended with yields kept low to augment concentration in the fruit.

Mount Michael Vineyard is planted in 7.5 hectares of primarily Pinot Noir with a small amount of Pinot Gris. The Pinot Noir consists of 4 clones: Clone 5, Dujon Clones 115 and 667 and Clone Abel.

Peter Morrison and Debbie Laycock bought the vineyard in 2004 and have, since then, put all of their energy and passion into developing it, building the brand and engaging with some of the best technical people in the business.
