From the gold rush days of the 1860's, when gold was first discovered in Central Otago The Gold Rush & its History to the construction of the Clyde Dam in the early 1980's and the subsequent flooding of the Cromwell Gorge creating Lake Dunstan. The region caters for all, from recreational fisherman, to a wide range of aquatic sports, walking, biking, gold panning and other forms of eco tourism.
